Entry Level Foundation Courses

Embark on an exciting journey into robotics with our IQ Robotics Foundation Course, specially designed for students in Grades 4–7 (as of September 2025). This accelerated 12-week program introduces foundational robotics concepts through hands-on learning, guided engineering principles, and the official VEX IQ platform.  Through this beginner level course, students will build and program their own VEX IQ robots, learn coding concepts using VEXCode, tackle real-world challenges, and work on a capstone project using the 2025-2026 “Mix and Match” game.

     This foundation program (aka Robotics 101) is structured with the following curriculum:

 Week 1:  Introduction of VEX IQ Robotics

 Week 2:  Programing basics with VexCode

 Week 3:  Building the Basebot and Configuration

 Week 4:  Introduction to Autonomous programming

 Week 5:  Engineering notebook

 Week 6:  Explore IQ Sensors and Configuration

 Week 7:  Programing with the Remote Controller

 Week 8:  Advanced Design and Building Concepts (part 1)

 Week 9:  Advanced Design and Building Concepts (part 2)

 Week 10:  Advanced Coding Techniques (Part 1)

 Week 11:  Advanced Coding Techniques (Part 2)

 Week 12:  Final Scrimmage and Project Demonstration

Introduction to Programming with Python For Beginners | Grades 6–8

This beginner-friendly course introduces students to the fundamentals of computer programming using Python, one of the most popular and versatile languages in the world today. Through hands-on activities, students will learn how to write clean code, solve real-world problems, and think like a programmer.

 

No prior experience required! Whether you're exploring coding for the first time or looking to build a strong foundation, this course will set you up for success in future programming such as robotics, competitive programming, CCC junior/senior competition.

If so, we invite you to apply for a spot on our exclusive VEX IQ Club Teams—a year-long competitive program for dedicated students ready to take their skills to the next level.

 

Much like joining an elite sports team, students will be part of high-performance teams, receiving training, mentorship, practice and club access. Participants will have practice sessions, coaching, advanced robotics parts, spare parts, ensuring they are fully equipped for success in VEX IQ competitions.  Teams will compete in official VEX IQ tournaments, and students will be placed into tiers (white, blue, and black) based on experience and performance.

 

This program is designed for students who are ready to work hard, collaborate, and compete at a high level in VEX IQ tournaments.
